Next-Generation Non-Radioactive Multiphase Flow Metering
Non-nuclear multiphase metering that measures all three phases — oil, water, and gas — directly, instead of estimating them. Low-field Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) with advanced proprietary signal reconstruction, no radioactive isotopes and no pipeline separation. The same platform now extends from the flowing pipe to the formation — measuring the hydrogen in what flows and what sits in the rock.
Why Now
The multiphase metering market is under structural pressure to move away from radioactive sources, just as Brazil's pre-salt enters its largest investment cycle in history.
Global MPFM Market
A multiphase flow metering market growing ~7%/year, today concentrated in five incumbents that control roughly 60% of share.
Petrobras E&P CAPEX 2026–30
With 14 new FPSOs planned through 2027 and most spend directed at pre-salt, every new field needs per-well allocation metering.
Hidden Cost of Nuclear Sources
Civil-liability insurance premiums for radioactive gamma meters can reach tens of thousands of dollars per unit each month — a direct driver for non-nuclear technology.
Cost Cited as Adoption Barrier
Four in ten operators cite the prohibitive cost of current MPFMs as the main obstacle to wider adoption — an opening for a leaner, safer architecture.
The Paradigm Shift
Compare the features of traditional multiphase meters against EchoFlow's safe, compact, and high-precision magnetic resonance spool.
State-of-the-Art Metrology
By merging low-field Nuclear Magnetic Resonance with advanced signal reconstruction, we solve the oil industry's hardest metrological challenge.
Low-Field NMR
Excites hydrogen nuclei in the flowing oil, water, and gas phases to measure phase velocities and hold-ups directly inside the spool — no probes, no radioactive sources, no separation.
Rapid Acquisition
Advanced acquisition captures rapid flow transitions and transient gas slugs in real time — the fast events that legacy meters smear or miss.
Real-Time Reconstruction
Iterative reconstruction turns sparse measurements into real-time phase-flow profiles. In high-fidelity simulation, the method reaches a U95 gas uncertainty of 1.2% — the accuracy class targeted by API MPMS 20.3.
Dynamic Flow Regime Classification
Different flow regimes (stratified, annular, bubbly, or slug) alter signal attenuation. EchoFlow incorporates an intelligent classifier trained on the 3W Multiphase Flow dataset, dynamically identifying regimes to correct velocity and water-cut calculations in real-time.
Development stage: performance figures reflect high-fidelity simulation. Hardware validation is in progress (TRL 4). Metrology consulting services are available today.
Where It Delivers
Built for the hardest measurement environments in offshore oil & gas — from ultra-deepwater pre-salt to high water-cut mature fields.
Pre-Salt Allocation
Deepwater, high-CO₂, high-pressure pre-salt fields demand precise per-well allocation. A non-radioactive, compact spool fits where heavy nuclear meters cannot.
Mature High-Water-Cut Fields
In fields with water cut above 85%, accurate phase metering is critical for revitalization and water-injection optimization — a regime where microwave and gamma meters struggle.
Shared FPSO Allocation
FPSOs gathering multiple wells require per-well allocation for fiscal split and reservoir control. Compact spools enable metering on space- and weight-constrained decks.
Subsea Tie-Backs & Satellites
Long tie-backs and satellite fields need continuous flow monitoring to safeguard flow assurance and production accounting across the gathering network.
Integrated Solutions
We offer deep metrological expertise through dual vectors: high-performance hardware and vendor-agnostic consulting services.

From the Pipe to the Formation
The same non-nuclear NMR platform — permanent-magnet excitation, edge SDR acquisition, and advanced proprietary signal reconstruction — turned outward becomes a borehole logging probe. It measures the hydrogen of the water and oil held in the pore space of a formation: porosity, bound versus free fluid, and an estimate of hydraulic conductivity, measured in-situ rather than inferred.
EchoFlow Aqua — Hydrogeological Logging
A compact, low-cost NMR logging probe sized for the 2-inch monitoring wells that the groundwater market already has — where the large oilfield tools do not fit. It characterizes aquifers directly: total porosity, clay-bound versus free/movable water, and an estimate of hydraulic conductivity — without core sampling or a pumping test.
Built around edge computing and adaptive reconstruction, it targets a small fraction of the cost of imported solutions, opening aquifer characterization to environmental, mining-ESG, and water-resource programs that a single foreign supplier holds captive today.
- Direct Water Measurement: Total porosity, bound vs. free water, hydraulic-conductivity estimate
- Fits 2-inch Wells: Compact slim-hole probe with on-board edge processing
- Applications: Saline intrusion, contamination plumes, mining EIA/RIMA, ANA water permitting
- Development Stage: Validated in numerical simulation; field commissioning planned (early TRL)
Groundwater & ESG
The only borehole geophysics that measures the water itself — sized for the wells the market already drills.
EchoFlow Petro — Pre-Salt Reservoir Logging
A conceptual high-pressure, high-temperature NMR logging tool aimed at the carbonate reservoirs of the Brazilian pre-salt. The objective is high-resolution reservoir characterization with robust fluid typing and faster logging — at a fraction of the cost of the incumbent service.
By accelerating the acquisition, the platform targets a higher logging speed (rig-time is what the operator pays for) while resolving the multimodal pore systems of pre-salt coquinas and microbialites that fixed inversions blur.
- High-Resolution Characterization: Multimodal carbonate pore systems, fluid typing
- Faster Logging: Accelerated acquisition to reduce rig-time
- Target Cost: A fraction of the incumbent HPHT logging service
- Development Stage: Conceptual / in development — low TRL; not a finished product
Pre-Salt Carbonates
High-resolution, faster, lower-cost reservoir characterization — currently at an early, conceptual stage.
Development stage: the formation-logging line is validated in numerical simulation. EchoFlow Aqua is the field-anchor product (early TRL, advancing toward field commissioning); EchoFlow Petro is conceptual / in development. Figures and capabilities describe design targets, not certified product specifications.
EchoFlow Intelligence
The reconstruction, petrophysics, and uncertainty engine behind the hardware — offered as software and data. It is hardware-agnostic: it processes echoes from an EchoFlow probe or from a third-party tool, and returns characterization with certified uncertainty.
Reconstruction & Petrophysics as a Service
Send raw echoes — from our probe or a third-party tool — and receive the relaxation distribution plus petrophysics (porosity, permeability estimate, bound/free fluid, fluid typing) with GUM-certified uncertainty. Per-log SaaS or on-premise licence, ideal for reprocessing logs you already own.
Digital-Twin & Virtual Calibration
A validated physics-based phantom and uncertainty chain used to certify a meter's error curve by simulation, to optimize a sensor before cutting metal, and to generate synthetic data for model training. Sold as a licence or project to instrumentation makers and calibration and R&D labs.
Subsurface Data Layer
An aggregated, anonymized characterization archive — aquifer and reservoir — building into data products for regulators, ESG and mining, and reservoir analytics. Subscription and report-based, grown organically from service campaigns.
Development stage: the Intelligence core is built and validated on simulated and public datasets; a cloud MVP is in preparation. Engagements begin as reprocessing of existing or public logs.
